Visit our Sea Point practice
Your visit to Cape Town starts at The Eye Surgery's rooms in The Point Mall, Sea Point — a short trip from most Atlantic Seaboard accommodation, with ample secure parking via the Cassel Road entrance if you've hired a car. This is where Dr Aleksic carries out your consultation and diagnostic testing, confirms your treatment plan, and — for most procedures — checks your progress at follow-up visits before you fly home. A fully equipped optical dispensing practice and contact lens clinic also operate from these rooms, should you need spectacles or lenses made up while you're here.
Diagnostics on-site
All the equipment needed to assess your eyes and confirm your treatment plan is on-site in Sea Point, so a single visit is often enough to move from consultation to a confirmed surgical plan — useful when you're working around flights. Surgery in Cape Town
Surgery itself takes place a short distance away in Claremont, at Life Peninsula Eye Hospital and Peninsula Eye Clinic (PEC) — cataract, lens, and general ophthalmic surgery at the hospital, and laser-based treatments, including LASIK and PRK, corneal cross-linking (CXL), YAG, Argon, and SLT, at PEC. Most procedures are performed as a day case, so you're back at your hotel or guesthouse the same day rather than staying in hospital overnight.

We plan around you — We'll suggest realistic dates for your consultation, surgery and any follow-up visits, and let you know what to expect at each stage.

Consultation and diagnostics — On arrival, Dr Aleksic examines you and confirms your surgical plan — usually during the same visit.

Surgery, as a day case — You're back at your hotel or guesthouse the same day, with clear instructions for the hours that follow.

Recovery and follow-up in Cape Town — A short stay allows Dr Aleksic to check your progress in person before you fly home.

Ongoing care once you're home — You'll leave with a written aftercare plan, and Dr Aleksic remains available for follow-up questions remotely.
Planning Your Trip
How long should I stay?
This depends on your procedure. Some treatments, such as SLT laser or a single consultation and diagnosis, can often be arranged within a short visit. Most surgical procedures, including cataract surgery, generally require follow-up visits over a period of 7 to 10 days during early healing. Talk to us early – before you book flights – so we can plan your itinerary together.
Where to stay and getting around
The practice is based in Sea Point, within easy reach of hotels and guesthouses in the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town City Centre, Camps Bay, and Green Point. Many patients choose accommodation on or near the Sea Point Promenade – a short walk from our rooms, with sea views, cafés and restaurants close by. We can put you in touch with a travel partner who assists with transport and accommodation recommendations and bookings, including a dedicated Portuguese- or French-speaking consultant for patients who prefer support in their home language.
Speaking your language
Dr Aleksic uses an instant, real-time translation device during your consultation and procedure if you prefer to speak in your home language. If you prefer a human translator, let us know when you book – we can arrange one for your consultation and procedure.
The Practical Details
Fees and payment
Consultation and procedure fees are the same for international and local patients – there is no additional charge for visitors. Full payment is required before surgery. If you hold international or specialist medical travel insurance, please check your coverage and claims process with your provider before you travel.
Visas and documentation
We can provide a letter to support your visa application, along with referral letters and copies of your medical reports for your own records or for your doctor back home.
